The Old Castle is the oldest building in Laxenburg and despite its later changes it has its own
preserved medieval impression. It is very interesting to discover the architectural epochs around the medieval core. After the "Feasts of the Lords of Lachsendorf" (as the original name), it became in 1306 Habsburg spring and autumn residence. First news about building operations are from the time of Duke Albrecht III. with the pigtail (1349/50 - 1395) with chronicle report and accounting received; leftovers
of it are still recognizable in the courtyards and on the Gothic apse of the castle chapel. In the 16th and 17th centuries, there were several renewal work and the construction of annexes.
