These 'hammam' (baths) domes resemble boobs! da shankar s.

These 'hammam' (baths) domes resemble boobs, I thought to myself rather naughtily. Turns out I wasn't totally off track after all. My guide told me something like this being the bath houses for the madams of the palace, and hence the boob shaped domes, and the largest dome represents the king's favourite queen. Hmmm. Well, these baths are not located in the middle of nowhere- we are approaching The Palace of the Shirvanshahs- we will get there in a moment. The bath-house was semi-underground for keeping the heat in winter and the cool in summer. As I mentioned earlier, I thought I was being cheeky comparing the domes to breasts but my guide assured me with a twinkle in his eye that these are probably ladies' baths and the biggest 'boob' you see here represents the king's favourite queen.
