A view of the elegant and poignant US war memorial on Guadalcanal. The memorial was dedicated on 3 August 1992, marking the 50th anniversary of the invasion of the Japanese-held island. The memorial consists of a granite obelisk and several granite tablets which tell the story of the battles and the great sacrifice for the Solomon Islands.
The memorial provides a spectacular view over the city towards Iron Bottom Sound and the surrounding hills. It's a shame that the site is blighted by several radio antennae.
