Constructed in 1903 by John McLaren, the North windmill helped pump water throughout Golden Gate Park. The windmill was renamed after Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands donated tulip bulbs to form the Queen Wilhelmina Tulip Gardens around the windmill. It is claimed to be the largest Dutch windmill in the world.
